Mass Communication Departmental President Outlines Plans For Growth And Innovation

The Department of Mass Communication recently elected its new executives for the 2024/2025 academic session. This development marks the beginning of significant changes within the department. We spoke with the president of this prestigious department, who shared his plans and what students should expect.
Q: What is your name?
A: My name is Mr. Onah C. Kenechukwu, and I am the president of this prestigious department.
Q: As the president, what challenges do you think our department is facing, and how would you like to tackle them?
A: One major challenge is financial constraints.My team and I have developed a solution by adjusting departmental dues to meet the department’s needs. Additionally, we are exploring ways to source funds from external sponsors and initiatives outside the department.
Q: Could you tell us the department’s top priorities for this session?
A: Our main focus is to ensure a fully functional Mass Communication studio and practical journalism training for students.
Q: Could you please expatiate on that?
A: The goal is to make the Mass Communication studio fully operational so that students can gain hands-on experience in the practical aspects of journalism and media production. We are currently working closely with the head ofdepartment to make this a reality.
Q: What activities should students of the Department of Mass Communication look forward to this session?
A: This session will feature a variety of activities, including educational and social events. I encourage students to anticipate and actively participate. Additionally, our primary focus this semester is to ensure a smooth and successful freshers’ orientation. As we begin this session, I encourage students to look forward to the exciting developments and initiatives we have planned for the department.
